This year has been one of rebirth and refinement for Acre, the boldest Christian rock/metal band in the scene. The band has spent the past several months re-recording their catalog in FLOCO’s newly refurbished flagship studio in Portland, Oregon, and in the brand-new Fox Fire Records facility in Boise, Idaho.
The result? A sound that’s bigger, clearer, and more faithful than ever to the raw fire Acre is known for.
Earlier this year on Easter, Acre re-released Christ Is King in Dolby Atmos, giving fans a fully immersive sonic experience that feels like standing in the middle of a live Acre performance.
Mason Hart, lead vocalist of Acre, shared: “It just made sense to re-record the album. It wasn’t hard—we had just finished it originally—but doing it in the new studios made the whole process smoother. Honestly, it felt like penance to our fans. We love you guys, and this was our way of making things right.”
According to Erin from Fox Fire Records’ marketing team, the process was swift but intentional:
“It only took Acre about a week to re-record Christ Is King. The only real delay came from Allie Cat’s schedule—her tracks took a little longer to finish. During the March studio renovations, Acre flew to Portland and re-recorded half the album there, then wrapped up the rest in Boise. Allie Cat was the final piece, recording her reworked parts live at her August 17th Vendetta Live concert in Portland. That brought the whole record full circle.”
With Christ Is King now shining in its updated glory, Acre is only three tracks away from finishing the re-recording of Defend Thy Faith. The band is handling cornerstone songs like Hail Mary Full of Grace – Punch the Devil in the Face with “kid gloves,” determined to keep the sound faithful to the original while still benefiting from the new production clarity.
Every song is being remade lyric-for-lyric and note-for-note, with only slight adjustments to breakdowns or riffs. The goal: to ensure that each track sounds 95% identical to the original release—just free from the distortions, errors, and production missteps of the past.
Fox Fire Records also worked behind the scenes to smooth the process for fans. Over the summer, during the studio renovations, Fox Fire met with distributors and secured a breakthrough deal.
Monty Floyd, CEO of FLOCO Media, explained: “It took some time, but after multiple Zoom meetings, we hammered out a deal that saves everyone a ton of time and money. The biggest winners here are the fans, who finally get to hear their favorite songs without the ghosts of production mishaps. Honestly, I’m just glad we’ve finally shaken off the shadow of Monkey Paw Music. That chapter is closed, and we’re moving forward stronger than ever.”
And Acre isn’t the only one participating—Allie Cat and Wicked Whispers are also re-recording their catalogs under the same initiative. Albums will be quietly swapped out as they’re completed, with re-recorded versions seamlessly replacing old ones across platforms.
But with such a heavy focus on re-recordings, Acre has made an important announcement: there will be no new full-length album in 2026. Instead, the band will release a Christmas LP on December 1, 2025, as a gift to fans. Their next full studio album is officially set for 2027.
Until then, fans can expect a steady stream of updated classics, live performances, and Christmas cheer.
