ACRE, the firebrand Catholic-Orthodox metal band known for its no-compromise message and fearless sound, has officially launched a newly enhanced sub-site under the Fox Fire Records banner. The upgraded site is designed to better connect with their loyal fanbase, centralize their content, and reflect the band’s evolving vision as they charge into a new chapter.
But perhaps the biggest announcement comes from deep within the band itself: ACRE has committed to re-recording the entirety of their musical catalog—note for note, lyric for lyric—in full Dolby-quality audio.
This move comes after months of soul-searching and spirited discussion between band members following backlash over the controversial 3.5 Remastered Tracks project. Fans pushed back hard when Defend the Faith was reworked into Defend Thy Faith, citing the changes as a betrayal of the original sound and message. While Fox Fire’s intentions were to clean up technical issues that plagued the original Monkey Paw Music recordings, it quickly became clear that something vital had been lost in the process.
Morgan, a co-lead vocalist and guitarist for ACRE, didn’t mince words when asked about the decision:
“We’re super grateful for everything Fox Fire was able to salvage, considering the old stuff was, well, recorded like crap in a friend’s garage with a dying mic. But after we released the remasters, we realized fans didn’t just want better audio—they wanted authenticity. So the guys and I sat down, hashed out our theological and creative issues, and agreed that we owe it to the people who stood by us. Not a remaster. A rebirth.”
The band has chosen to spend spring, summer, and fall of 2025 fully re-recording both Defend Thy Faith and Christ Is King, restoring every song in its original form and power. These aren't "remasters"—they are faithful re-creations designed to preserve the raw energy and theological fire that made ACRE what it is today.
Travis, another core member of ACRE, added:
“This isn’t about making money. It’s about penance. We screwed up. We’re fixing it—not because it’s easy, but because it’s right.”
Fox Fire Records and FLOCO Media (formerly FLOCO Holdings) are not requiring ACRE to do this. This is an artist-led decision rooted in service, not sales. Inspired by their integrity, other Fox Fire artists—like Allie Cat, who occasionally features with ACRE—have pledged to follow suit.
In recognition of this act of musical integrity, FLOCO Media has pledged to fund each re-recorded album's permanent distribution as Legacy Tracks, ensuring that—regardless of what happens to Fox Fire Records, FLOCO Media, or even the band itself—these albums will remain online and accessible to fans forever.
Turbulence, Theology & Triumph
The past year hasn’t been easy for ACRE. Internal disagreements led to the band briefly going dark, shutting down social media and pausing live engagements. At the heart of the dispute were theological differences, particularly around statements and actions by Pope Francis, including the Pachamama controversy and the blessing of same-sex unions. The appointment of Pope Leo XIV added further friction.
To help mediate the dispute, Fox Fire Records brought in Allie Cat—an outspoken Catholic artist in her own right—who successfully helped guide the band toward reconciliation.
What emerged from the chaos was more than just unity—it was rebirth.
From Censorship to Comeback
ACRE (formerly Warrior Worship, and before that, Crusader Clash) has been called the most censored Christian metal band on the planet. After FLOCO Media acquired the Monkey Paw Music catalog in 2024, the UK government blacklisted Warrior Worship’s music, labeling it "hate speech" and blocking access to FLOCO's website across the UK. The resulting fallout affected other Fox Fire artists and led to intense backlash from international distributors.
It was a brutal chapter—but one that forged ACRE’s resolve.
Through the relentless advocacy of FLOCO CEO Monty Floyd and the determination of the band itself, ACRE’s music was rescued from censorship hell, migrated to American-based distribution channels, and reborn.
The band’s resurrection came with a new name—ACRE—and a new mission: to create uncompromising faith-driven metal that defends truth, confronts heresy, and stands unapologetically for Christ.
