Born from fog and fire, Wicked Whispers didn’t just emerge from the grave—it was resurrected.
Before the music, before the pumpkins sang and the ghosts danced, there was Eerie Effects—a gritty, prop-heavy special effects company from the late 2000s. Founded by Monty Floyd, a former Disney Imagineer and special effects artist with Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights and Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream, Eerie Effects catered to haunted houses, film sets, and theme parks across the southeastern U.S. Known for their elaborate wardrobes, nightmare-inducing masks, and movie-quality props, Eerie Effects made its name terrifying the best in the business.
One of their crowning achievements? A full-scale, hand-built Victorian-era horse-drawn hearse, still proudly displayed at the legendary Nolan House in New Orleans' Garden District—famed filming location of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and countless horror films. Every October, it becomes the centerpiece of the Nolan House’s elite Halloween celebration, a bone-chilling tribute to Monty’s early work.
But when the curtain closed on Eerie Effects in 2013, something darker was brewing.
In 2020, after a short-lived revival of Allie Cat Records and the implosion of Monkey Paw Music, Monty was approached to helm a new media venture. His only condition? The artists had to help resurrect Eerie Effects—not with props and silicone, but with music, books, and animation.
And thus, Wicked Whispers was born.
🎃 THE SOUNDTRACK OF SPOOK SEASON
Wicked Whispers quickly became a seasonal staple. With the release of Wicked Beats Volumes I, II, and III, the brand clawed its way to the Top 10 Halloween Music Charts Worldwide, hitting #4, #5, and #6 during September and October of 2024—just before the UK Government and several UK distributors conspired to blacklist FLOCO Media and its subsidiaries over alleged controversies surrounding Christian metal band ACRE.
The blacklist derailed plans for Dark Symphony, a moody, ambient horror album meant to rival Disney’s Haunted Mansion score—but Fox Fire Records has confirmed a revamped Dark Symphony is in the works for Halloween 2025.
Despite interference and suppression from major platforms (and what some fans believe to be aggressive pay-for-placement campaigns by major FNAF-themed tribute bands), Wicked Whispers is undeterred.
Wicked Whispers manager Erin Moriarity, alongside Fox Fire President and FLOCO Media CEO Monty Floyd, made the strategic decision to cap the Wicked Beats series at 10 volumes. Volumes 5 through 7 will hit in Halloween 2025, and 8 through 10 will close the curtain in 2026.
🎤 FROM TRACKS TO TOONS: INTO THE NETHERVERSE
As the final Wicked Beats take shape, Wicked Whispers is shifting its focus to something even more ambitious—animation.
Into the Netherverse: Nine Lives to Die is the flagship animated horror series currently in early development. Featuring characters and music inspired by Wicked Beats, and starring fan-favorite acts like Allie Cat and Neon Rebel, Netherverse promises to be a sprawling Halloween epic. A GoFundMe campaign launched in July 2025, and the pilot episode is targeted for release in Halloween 2027.
👑 ALLIE CAT SPEAKS...
When asked about her role in the madness, the scream queen of Wicked Whispers, Allie Cat, had this to say:
“I’ve regretted a lot in my life. This? This ain’t one of them. Making these songs? I feel like a dang kid again. I get to scream, laugh, wail, and howl—and the fans love it. We’re just getting started, sugar.”
🎃 SUMMERWEEN & FRIGHT FEST 2025
Right now, Wicked Whispers is deep in Summerween—the annual pre-season teaser-fest where the studio drops hints, tricks, and treats to their loyal Fantoms.
Coming this fall, Fright Fest 2025 kicks off October 1st with giveaways, contests, live streams, and the return of the Fright Fest Halloween Prize Pack—this year, a trip for two to Universal Studios Orlando.
In addition, Wicked Whispers is planning an exclusive live horror music event with Fox Fire Records, featuring Allie Cat and Neon Rebel performing their most haunted tracks. This special will tie into the release of the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 film in December, with a limited EP titled Live from the Pizzaplex and free movie ticket giveaways for lucky fans.
💀 THE FINAL VERDICT
Wicked Whispers may have started in the shadows of a haunted prop company, but it’s become something more—a Halloween movement, a musical monster, and a rallying cry for indie horror fans who want their spooky season loud, proud, and rocking.
So whether you're lighting a jack-o'-lantern, howling at the moon, or lining up for the next big scare—just remember:
The pumpkin always wins.
