In the vibrant world of independent music, tales of success and struggle are everywhere. At FLOCO, we share a similar journey, especially in our quest to revive the enchanting sounds of Fox Fire Records. This expansive music catalog is a hidden treasure of creativity, waiting for its time to shine. Today, I’m excited to share our mission of remastering these tracks and breathing new life into them.
FLOCO’s journey began in the summer of 2024, marked by an exhilarating moment when we received Allie Cat Records as a no-cost gift from Allie Cat herself. It is very rare in the realm of intellectual property acquisitions that one gets anything for free, let alone an entire music catalog and this one was not without its pitfalls.
Allie's vision was and has been consistently clear: she wanted her music to thrive. However, we soon discovered the challenge that accompanied this generous gift—a Portland recording studio filled with outdated equipment and a history of mediocre production choices.
This challenge harkens back to the turbulent days of Monkey Paw Music, which managed much of Fox Fire Records' output from 2015 until its dissolution in 2023. Their legacy is mixed; without proper management, many recordings were left in obscurity, waiting for someone to unlock their potential.
Uncovering the Hidden Gems

The extensive catalog of Fox Fire Records holds a wealth of music that has remained largely unheard, with some tracks left dormant for as long as seven years. Among these hidden gems are Wicked Whispers’ horror rock tributes, some first released in 2018. Unfortunately, due to gross mismanagement by Monkey Paw Music, these tracks received only six months of exposure on iTunes before vanishing from public view until 2024 when we relaunched them.
When we acquired Allie Cat Records, we uncovered a mix of remarkable treasures and frustrating challenges. Alongside the rights to an expansive musical catalog and pending contracts with eight talented musicians and bands, we also inherited a problematic "usage contract" with the "Portland Studio." This ironclad agreement, recklessly signed by Monkey Paw Music, mandates exclusive use of the studio for all music production until December 31, 2027.
This contract, riddled with issues, ties (the successor of Monkey Paw through acquisition) Fox Fire Records to a studio we neither own nor operate—one that is outdated and plagued by sound quality problems. Despite multiple good-faith efforts to renegotiate or exit the agreement, the binding terms leave no escape without triggering significant breach-of-contract penalties. Worse still, the contract includes a gag clause preventing us from naming or criticizing the studio publicly for their shotty standards—hence, why our staff and talent only refer to it as the "Portland Studio."
It’s now painfully clear why Monkey Paw Music is no longer in business. Only a complete lack of diligence—or understanding—could have resulted in signing such a disastrous deal. Unfortunately, we remain bound to its terms until the end of 2027, a frustrating reminder that "there’s no such thing as a free lunch." Thankfully, Monkey Paw did not last long and this was as much damage as they could manifest in their short existence.
Despite these challenges, we are committed to making the most of the situation. With a focus on remastering, we aim to breathe new life into these tracks while navigating the limitations of our current contractual obligations. Our goal is to achieve modern sound quality standards, including Dolby remastering, to ensure these hidden gems resonate with today’s listeners.
This is no small feat, but at FLOCO, we pride ourselves on turning obstacles into opportunities by emboldening the characteristics of our mascot, the sly and crafty fox who is never on the bad end of any deal.
The music deserves to be heard—and heard the way it was meant to be.
The TIPP Internship Initiative
One of the most impactful initiatives launched by our CEO, Monty Floyd, is the TIPP (Training in Innovative Production Processes) internship program (recently renamed). This forward-thinking program attracts fresh talent, leveraging their creativity while providing them with invaluable, hands-on experience in music production—all at zero cost to FLOCO or our brands. It’s a win-win: interns gain real-world experience working with legacy artists in the field, industry references that open doors, and the opportunity to refine their skills. In return, FLOCO benefits from their innovative ideas and contributions, ensuring growth without any financial strain.
Monty Floyd is not only a visionary CEO but also a leading constitutional liberty advocate and activist. A former political candidate for local office in Florida in 2022, he is outspoken about his belief that property and income taxes are forms of legalized theft and a violation of Americans’ inherent rights. Guided by this philosophy, Monty designed the TIPP program around an Amish-styled barter system that avoids taxable income or expenses altogether. Many of FLOCO’s staff, including myself, participate under similar arrangements, serving as unpaid volunteers or interns. This allows us to contribute our talents to FLOCO, build industry experience, strengthen our resumes, and support the company’s growth—an innovative model that champions liberty while staying at the forefront of business operations.
Currently, three incredibly musically talented TIPP interns are playing a crucial role in the remastering process of our music catalog. They dive deep into our extensive vault of long-forgotten tracks, meticulously refining recordings impacted by poor studio setups or faulty equipment. Their enthusiasm and dedication as they transform raw recordings into polished, modern tracks are nothing short of inspiring, breathing new life into the artistry of the past while shaping the future of FLOCO.
Progress at a Glance
As we forge ahead on our ambitious journey, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re nearing the completion of remastering the Wicked Whispers catalog. This iconic group perfectly captures the spine-chilling thrills of the horror rock genre, captivating audiences far and wide, including the devoted "Five Nights at Freddy’s" (FNAF) community.
By focusing on remastering one artist at a time, we’ve begun to unearth previously unheard tracks, ready to be reintroduced to the world. The excitement among Wicked Whispers fans—our beloved "Fantoms"—is palpable, and we share their anticipation as we prepare to unveil these reimagined works.
Looking ahead, we aim to create a legacy that resonates across generations, blending nostalgia with fresh, vibrant energy. In a music landscape often saturated with predictable sounds, our catalog will stand apart, delivering bold, dynamic compositions that breathe new life into these genres.
The FNAF community, with its intricate and ever-expanding lore, presents a unique opportunity. Tribute music in this space often leans into static-like noise and experimental rhythms, which are fascinating but unconventional. In contrast, our growing collection of FNAF-inspired tracks offers a polished yet equally immersive listening experience. With the right marketing and connection points to this passionate fanbase, our catalog has the potential to explode in popularity, far surpassing anything currently available—especially once fully remastered.
Through these efforts, we’re not just restoring music; we’re reinterpreting it for modern audiences, ensuring each track is experienced in its fullest, most vibrant form.
This journey wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of our fans, artists, and everyone who engages with our work. We’re deeply grateful and excited to share the upcoming remastered tracks with you. Stay tuned—this is only the beginning of an extraordinary adventure!
